AWE by QT ("the app") is developed by Neon Golden Ltd ("we", "us") in Queenstown, New Zealand. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and how it is handled.
When you use AWE by QT, the following data is sent to our server:
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information. We do not use analytics frameworks, advertising SDKs, or tracking pixels. The app contains no third-party code on the iOS side — it is built entirely with Apple's own frameworks.
Your device token is used solely to deliver push notifications when a phenomenon is detected. Your location is used to calculate astronomical events (such as moonrise azimuth and timing) relative to your position and the surrounding terrain. Your notification preferences determine which alerts you receive.
Our server periodically analyses publicly available webcam imagery to detect atmospheric phenomena. These images are processed using the Anthropic Claude API (an artificial intelligence service). No user data — including your location, device token, or preferences — is sent to Anthropic. Only the webcam image and a detection prompt are transmitted.
Your device token, location, and preferences are stored on our server in Queenstown. Data is retained for as long as your device remains registered. If you uninstall the app or your device token expires, your record is automatically removed when the token becomes invalid. There is no account to delete because there is no account — registration is anonymous and automatic.
We do not sell, share, or disclose your data to any third party. The only external service that receives data from our server is Apple's push notification service (to deliver your alerts) and Anthropic's API (to analyse webcam images, with no user data included).
Communication between the app and our server is encrypted via HTTPS. The server is hosted on dedicated infrastructure and access is restricted to authorised personnel only.
AWE by QT is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
